Hello English language lovers!

Filed under: Uncategorized — thesharpepen @ 7:52 pm

I have a confession.  I’m a word geek and I love the English Language. I even read and see Shakespeare plays… for fun.  Really, I do!  I realize this makes me a rare strange bird in the era of texting.

However, my goal with this blog is not to get after the forms of English being developed for new technologies.  Hey, I’m a techie myself.  Nor is my goal to go after people who use English as a Second Language.  As much of a fan as I am of Engrish.com, my beef isn’t with those who use English as a second language. If you are an ESL person, my hat’s off to you.

My goal with this blog is to point out the abuses, leaps in logic, jerrymandering of jargon, and all around bad use of English that my fellow English speakers make on a daily basis. The source material can come from websites, TV, books, and newspapers (those old-fashioned printed things). In short, wherever English natives are hard at work to mangle the English language, I will endeavor to point out their misbehavior and lack of communication. My hope is to make people aware that shoddy construction and word choice undercut their meaning and have a little fun along the way.
